Text messages
Bizio sends two kinds of text message, and neither is sent to anyone who has not asked for it. Nobody is texted for signing up, buying something or filling in a form. The box is separate, it is never ticked in advance, and leaving it alone changes nothing else.
1. Bizio texting a business owner
A business using Bizio can choose to get its account alerts by text as well as by email: a new order, an agreement a client signed, a payment that failed, or a notice about the service. Up to about 10 a month.
Where: in their own dashboard, under Settings, Notifications. They enter a mobile number and tick a box. The box is unticked until they tick it, and untick it and the texts stop.
The exact wording beside that box:
I agree that Bizio may text this number about my account: new orders, signed agreements, failed payments and service notices. Message frequency varies, up to about 10 a month. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out, HELP for help. See the Terms and Privacy Policy.
Sent from Bizio, operated by Vernon Tech & Media LLC.
2. A business texting its own customers
Businesses on Bizio can text their own customers about an enquiry, an appointment or an offer. Each business sends from its own number, verified in its own name, and is responsible for what it sends.
Where: on that business's public storefront page, on the enquiry form, under the phone number field. Unticked by default. The form can be submitted without ticking it, and the enquiry is answered either way.
The exact wording beside that box, with the business's own name in place of the example:
I agree that [Business name] may text me about my enquiry, appointments and offers. Message frequency varies, up to about 4 a month. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out, HELP for help. See the Terms and Privacy Policy.
What we keep
Every opt-in is recorded with the wording that was on the screen at the time, the page it was on, and when it happened. The wording changes over the years and consent is only consent to what was actually shown, so we store the sentence rather than a tick.
Stopping
Reply STOP to any message and it stops immediately, and we mark the consent withdrawn. STOPALL, UNSUBSCRIBE, CANCEL, END and QUIT all work the same way. Reply START to begin again.
Reply HELP and you get a reply naming the business and how to reach it. For a business texting its own customers that reads:
[Business name]: for help reply to this message or email us. Reply STOP to stop receiving texts. Msg & data rates may apply.
Message and data rates may apply. Message frequency varies. You can also email ray@bizio.link and we will remove your number.
